About the scholarship

Tuition paid directly to UNIMAK

A 10-year funding initiative (2026–2036) established by Dr. Chernor M.B. Jalloh — legal practitioner, lecturer, philanthropist, and native of Dogoloya — to ensure financial limitations never block the ambitions of promising local youth. The programme cultivates a new generation of skilled professionals and change-makers for Dogoloya and Sierra Leone.

Qualified female applicants are explicitly encouraged to apply — supporting girls’ education is central to breaking generational barriers and building inclusive community leadership.

Selection & safeguards

How applications are selected
  • Phase 1 — A YOUNGEN Selection Committee evaluates applications against a strict needs-and-merit rubric to form a shortlist.
  • Phase 2 — Shortlisted names are sent to the donor, Dr. Chernor M.B. Jalloh, for final review and approval.
Confidentiality

All sensitive documents — financial statements, family disclosures, and personal hardship details — are handled with strict data privacy and are accessible only to authorised members of the selection committee.

Honesty & anti-fraud

This is a highly competitive, needs-based award for families genuinely lacking financial alternatives. False, forged, or misleading information results in immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from future YOUNGEN opportunities.
