About the scholarship
A 10-year funding initiative (2026–2036) established by Dr. Chernor M.B. Jalloh — legal practitioner, lecturer, philanthropist, and native of Dogoloya — to ensure financial limitations never block the ambitions of promising local youth. The programme cultivates a new generation of skilled professionals and change-makers for Dogoloya and Sierra Leone.
Qualified female applicants are explicitly encouraged to apply — supporting girls’ education is central to breaking generational barriers and building inclusive community leadership.
What it covers
- 100% of university tuition fees, paid directly to UNIMAK each academic year.
What it does not cover
- Rent or accommodation in Makeni
- Feeding and transport
- Textbooks, laptops, and personal academic project fees
Who can apply
- Be a native or permanent resident of Dogoloya Town.
- Be an active member of YOUNGEN, or willing to register as a Full Member upon selection.
- Have gained admission to (or met all requirements to enrol in) an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the University of Makeni (UNIMAK).
- Demonstrate genuine financial need through verifiable community tracking.
- Be committed to completing the full programme and able to reside in Makeni for its duration.

- 1A one-page Letter of Interest / Personal Statement (typed in the form).
- 2Official UNIMAK Admission Letter.
- 3Valid WASSCE Result.
- 4One recent passport-sized photograph.

Selection & safeguards
How applications are selected
- Phase 1 — A YOUNGEN Selection Committee evaluates applications against a strict needs-and-merit rubric to form a shortlist.
- Phase 2 — Shortlisted names are sent to the donor, Dr. Chernor M.B. Jalloh, for final review and approval.
Confidentiality
All sensitive documents — financial statements, family disclosures, and personal hardship details — are handled with strict data privacy and are accessible only to authorised members of the selection committee.
Honesty & anti-fraud
This is a highly competitive, needs-based award for families genuinely lacking financial alternatives. False, forged, or misleading information results in immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from future YOUNGEN opportunities.
